• Introduction
Professor Yoon received his BS (1983) and MS (1985) degree from Seoul National University and his Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering from M.I.T. in 1990.
He worked at AT&T Bell laboratory where he conducted research on surface passivation by hydrogen plasma equipped with real-time, in-situ photoluminescence monitoring.
His current work involves epitaxial growth of SiGe, SIGeC and Si nanowires using UHV-CVD, growth of low-dimensional III-V compound semiconductor structures such as quantum wells and quantum dots by MOCVD, and growth and fabrication of LED with such nanosturctures as active layers. He is also involved in the development of in-situ optical monitoring techniques such as sepctral reflectance and multi-beam optical stress sensor during UHV-CVD and MOCVD for better control of epitaxial processes.
Professor Yoon is a member of Materials Research Society(MRS), Electrochemical Society(ECS), American Vacuum Society(AVS), Korean Vacuum Society(KVS) and Korean Materials Research Society(KMRS), and is currently an editotial board member of "Micro & Nano Letter.
